How time flies! It only feels like five minutes ago that we were enjoying 30-degree heat, and searching for the nearest beach. Now we’re in October, it’s officially Autumn and there’s a distinct chill in the air. It’s not just the seasons which bring about exciting change and new opportunities. In August 2019, E-zec Medical Transport Services were re-awarded the contract to continue to provide non-emergency patient transport services for the NHS Herefordshire CCG. Furthermore, whilst this in itself is a great achievement, the re-award included additional contracts with NHS Redditch & Bromsgrove CCG, NHS South Worcestershire CCG and NHS Wyre Forest CCG. This is an amazing accomplishment, and really outlines the fantastic work that all of our team in Hereford has done to deliver such fantastic patient care in the region. The combined contract has been awarded for an initial 5-year period, which will commence on the 1st of April 2020. E-zec originally novated the Hereford NEPTS contract in March 2016 from NSL Care Services, and after 3 years it has been altogether very successful. On average the team in Hereford work together to complete around 28,000 journeys per year. The contract is led by Jack Alexander who was kind enough to speak with us about his experience of working for E-zec: “I originally joined the PTS sector in March 2008 when it was Patient First. My first job was as a call-handler, and over the years I gained more experience within a number of different roles. When the contract was novated to E-zec in 2016, I was already in my current position of Contract Manager. During my years of working for E-zec, I have seen improvements to Training, and the care and attention that is made to ensure our equipment is up to scratch. It’s nice to work for a family run Company where I know that I have direct access to the Directors if I need too. I feel empowered to make my own decisions and appreciate the faith they have in me.” The Worcestershire Contract currently has 70 staff members, all of which will hopefully TUPE to E-zec on the 1st April 2020. Various different areas within the business will be pulling together over the coming months to ensure that the transfer is as smooth as possible, and our new colleagues are fully briefed on what to expect whilst working for E-zec. A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved, and will be involved in this process, your hard-work is very much appreciated. We look forward to working with commissioners, our current Hereford team, and our new Worcestershire team when they transfer on the 1st April 2020.
